Attention: Temporary Traffic Restrictions for Heavy Goods Vehicles in Bulgaria (over 20t) and Romania (over 7.5t)

Dear drivers and partners,

In connection with Order No. RD-09-39/29.06.2026 of the Director of the Regional Road Administration (OPU) Vidin, we inform you that temporary traffic restrictions during high temperatures are being introduced on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Furthermore, according to an official announcement by the Romanian authorities, strict restrictions have also been introduced in our neighboring country due to extreme heat waves.

🇧🇬 Restrictions in Bulgaria:

  • Applicable to: Heavy goods vehicles with a total weight over 20 tonnes.

  • Period: From 30.06.2026 (Tuesday) to 01.07.2026 (Wednesday) inclusive.

  • Time slot: Every day from 13:00 to 19:00 (at air temperatures above 35°C).

  • Affected section: Road I-1 (E79) "Vidin bypass - Dimovo - Ruzhintsi - Montana border" (from km 3+970 to km 73+542).

🇷🇴 Restrictions in Romania:

  • Applicable to: All vehicles with a maximum authorized total weight over 7.5 tonnes.

  • Period: In force for 30.06.2026 (Tuesday), with the possibility of extension if the heat wave persists.

  • Time slot: From 12:00 to 20:00.

  • Scope: All national roads, expressways, and motorways in a total of 35 counties, including Dolj County (immediately after the bridge from the Calafat side), as well as neighboring counties Mehedinți, Olt, Gorj, etc.

Important for those crossing the Danube Bridge Vidin - Calafat:

Due to the introduced bans in the border sections of both countries, it is highly likely that temporary difficulties, delays, and congestions of heavy goods vehicles will occur in the area of the Vidin - Calafat Border Control Checkpoint in both directions (entry and exit).

We appeal to all drivers and transport companies to plan their routes in advance, to adjust their travel time to the introduced time slots, and to be prepared to wait at the designated parking areas during the hot hours of the day.
